CULINARY ARTS
Culinary Arts provides an opportunity for students to learn the basics of food preparation with an emphasis on kitchen safety and sanitation. More and more, students are in a situation where they may be required to assist a parent, guardian or older sibling in preparing some or all meals in the household. The objective of the culinary arts program is to introduce the student to the fundamentals of culinary arts in cuisine and pastry & baking. Students will discover not just how to cook or bake a particular dish, but why. They will explore the origins of foods as well as their place in the diversified culinary landscape of the world. The student will acquire skills in areas of equipment use, recipe interpretation and culinary technique as they prepare foods under the direction and supervision of the chef/instructor.
