Woman prepares dinosaur with paint

Being involved in the theatre productions at Northwest Regional #7 inspired me to pursue a career in stage and film. With the experiences as a stage manager in high school and learning about different backstage jobs from Les Ober, I found my way into scenic design at Boston University and ultimately became a scenic artist working in New York City. A scenic artist executes the visions of a set designer by painting, texturing, carving, wallpapering, and faux finishing sets and backdrops to finished scenery. Highlights of my career include Saturday Night Live, the Metropolitan Opera, "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" and the renovation of its home, the Lyric Theatre on Broadway, and the film "Bridge of Spies." Most recently I was the Charge Scenic Artist (manager) for Jesus Christ Superstar Live on NBC. I am grateful for the opportunities to foster my love of theatre and the well-rounded education and value system that NWR #7 offered me. Julia Torrant, SCENIC ARTIST  - Class of 2000
