Northwestern Middle School Updates

1/3/23

Good Afternoon Northwestern,

Happy New Year and welcome back!  I hope you had a wonderful and relaxing winter break. Below you will find some important updates as we begin 2023!

Thank you,

Mr. Amara

UPDATED Early Release Days: January 20, 23, 24 and 25

We have early release days on January 20, 23, 24 and 25 to accommodate for the high school midterm exams. Middle School classes will continue with a variety of learning activities appropriate for each class. On these days, students are dismissed at 12:05 and lunch is served.

If we have any more snow days prior to January 20, we will move the early release/exam schedule one day per snow day. If we have a snow day on an early release/exam day, we will push the schedule to the next day.

If we have a 2-hour delay on one of these days, school will be dismissed at 2:07.

Personal Electronic Devices/Phones

As a reminder, student personal electronic devices/phones should be put away in lockers from 7:00-2:07. If a student needs to make a phone call or text a parent, at any time, they can ask permission and go to the office. If a parent needs to get a message to a student, they can call the Middle School office at any time during the school day.

This practice is a key part in providing a safe and comfortable learning environment for all of our students and staff while in the building. We noticed increased occurrences last month of phone use during the day that was distributive and distracting to learning.

As we begin 2023, please talk to your child about this and the importance of using our school devices and network for academic purposes only. I have attached a copy of our district Acceptable Use Policy as well for your reference. Acceptable Use Policy.pdf

Thank you for your partnership in making Northwestern Middle School a great place!!!

Borrowed Chromebooks and Chargers

Please return any borrowed Chromebooks or chargers to the Middle School office. Please take a look around your house and in your locker for any that you may have. Thank you!
